Learning About our Watershed
Our final Main Lesson unit of the year has been focused on the environmental forces that impact our watershed. We learned from books, videos, and experts and our oldest students were lucky enough to attend a capstone event on the lake itself with the Discover Cayuga Lake's infamous Floating Classroom. We tested and charted the water's clarity, pH and temperature at various depths, searched for signs of phytoplankton and zooplankton, and studied our findings under microscopes. All of this helped to build a better understanding of how the watershed affects the lake and its food chain. Thanks to Bill Foster and his team for a great morning on the water!
