Note from Barb:

The next book I buy will be The Blessings of a B-Minus: Using Jewish Teachings to Raise Resilient Teenagers, by Wendy Mogel. Based on the review in the New York Times and a quick clip I saw on television, Mogel's approach to raising adolescents sounds very wise. She even includes one of my favorite adages as a handy rule for parenting: put the oxygen mask on yourself before you put it on the child.
